Review: MAC Matchmaster Foundation

Foundation choice has been a difficult task for me, I am a pale faced girl with some freckles on my cheeks. I am not confident about my pale skin so in the summer I am always reaching for the fake tan bottle. My family have come to know me as the Ice Queen for how pale I am.

I went into my local MAC store, I knew what I wanted which was a foundation with medium - full coverage for the winter months.

The MAC sales assistant introduced me to MatchMaster in colour 1.0, Mac describe the foundation as having a shade intelligence technology to bring customised shades in a flawless demi-mate finish with a medium build-able coverage. Minimises pores, shines and imperfections.

When applied I was a bit shocked at how fast you need blend, if you don't your left with a powdery finish. So when all blended in I went off to work for a 12 hour shift. After 6 hours I noticed that I needed to touch it up.

If you have dry skin this is not the foundation for you,I find if you have dry areas it really accentuates the dryness.

Going on a night out with the girls? Lots of selfie taking? This foundation contains an SPF 15 which gives poor photo quality.

Overall I was not impressed with this foundation, felt too powdery on,  and wasn't as long lasting as expected.

But the colour choice did suit me and was not overly yellow toned. Just a shame about the consistency. I sadly will not be repurchasing this.

Mac Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation £27

I am think next I may try Nars Sheer Glow or maybe a Chanel......watch this space.

Lets Get Physical.......Physical

I am lucky enough to have a non-sedentary job, I am on the go all day long for 12 hours (I have considered rollerboots to get me around.....and yes I did say rollerboots!!).

A colleague and I have made a pact for the new year to get fitter and toned. So just before the new year we prancersised all the way down to our local gym and signed up (sold my soul to the devil more like.). So my first gym class ever was Body Pump (which is a Les Mills class I will link their website at the end), I has been described as the fastest way to get yourself in shape. I do not know about you, but only after one session I expect to see results......impatient or what!!

Body Pump is a weight based class, so involves a barbell of weights suited to your fitness level. You work eight different muscle groups within the class such as your back, chest, thighs, biceps etc.

It is a tough workout, but I am going to stick with it. Actually I have just finished my tenth class!!

If you are interested in Les Mills and their crazily good workouts head over to their website www.lesmills.com

NUXE Reve de Miel Baume Levre Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm

As we are all aware in the UK the weather this month has been quite hairy, very wet and windy. Along with the weather, central heating in our cosy homes and heating/air conditioning within our workplaces this can take a drying toll on our skin.

My place of work has an awful lot of air conditioning because of all the computer and tech equipment I have to use, this dries my skin and lips out terribly.

Enter my new super hero for my lips: Reve de Miel Lip Balm. I was browsing through www.feelunique.com looking for some inspiration on lipcare and I stumbled on this little treasure. It is currently feelunique's best seller in their lipcare department and I can understand why.

This is feeluniques description:

"NUXE Reve de Miel Baume Levres Ultra-Nourrissant Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm is a repairing, nourishing lip balm with a rich, delicious texture to restore suppleness and comfort to dry and chapped lips."

And Oh Boy were feelunique right!! Opening the product for the first time I was pleasantly surprised by its scent, very reminiscent to chocolate orange. Slicked on my lips I could feel the initial benefits my lips felt less dry and chapped. On the outer cardboard packaging it states that the balm was tested and surveyed in the Canadian Cold!!

But the real wonders happens when applied before bed, I applied a thicker layer of the balm to my lips and shut my eyes and drifted into the land of nod. As soon as I woke up I noticed straight away that lips were incredibly moisturised, supple and smooth.

I literally don't have a negative opinion of this product, the balm is encased within a glass jar which is small. I think my only issue if I had to state one would be the packaging is a little on the weighty side so to have in my work uniform can be annoying, having this as a balm stick may rectify this. But I really do not care I LOVE LOVE LOVE this balm.

This little beauty set me back £9.50 which I think is a bargain considered its performance. If you intrigued and want to give the balm a go the link is here

Hope you enjoyed this review!! If you had to choose your own Super Hero Lip Balm what would it be?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Haul #1: Highstreet

My days off from work are like gold-dust to me, free from stress and normally very productive. I found myself today looking after my 14 month year old nephew, which is so much fun, full of happy smiles and  comforting cuddles. When handing my nephew back :( I thought I needed a treat.

Perusing the aisles of Boots is probably a hobby for me, I find myself killing time, while browsing for lots of little goodies.

I have found some little treasure I have wanted to try for ages.

I will say as I am new to beauty blogging, my pictures are not taken on any professional equipment, so apologise for the quality. I say this because I understand that other blogs of the same genre are artistically beautiful, but why spend a huge amount of money if in the near future I feel that blogging is not for me? I am testing the water :P

First in my cross hair was the new Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, there is a lot of hype on micellar water products we all know Bioderma is the cult product. Garnier's product is 400ml which is claimed to be 200 uses, costing £4.99 which I consider to be reasonable on the pennies.

Gliding around the aisles I was finding my rhythm, then I stumble on this gorgeous little quad of eyeshadow goodness.
I love natural eye shadows, golds, browns, taupe's being my favourite. The eye shadows have good colour pay off, of course not being as pigmented as the Mac shadows in my opinion, but they are very good contenders. This cutesy little quad comes in at £10.

Now my next item is going to be a make or break product for me. I have wanted to try Benefit's Porefessional Primer for a while now. It comes in at £22, but I am not 100% sure I am going to like it but I want to see what all the good press is about, so I found a cheaper alternative.

This product is infact a gel primer, which means you need less of the product and it goes further. I am looking forward to trying this little gem. Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser £7.99.

Enter L'Oreal False Lash Telescope Mascara, an oldie but a goodie for £10.99.

So for my first haul how did you think I did?

ATM I am addicted to the winter olympics Elise Christie is a champion in my eyes, through out all the bad press she got she is such a strong willed young lady.....Stay strong Elise!!

#First Time, First Post

After being inspired by some sublime beauty/lifestyle bloggers, I thought I will jump on the bandwagon and give it an attempt. In no way am I expecting to be as talented or accomplished as these young writers but lets just wait and see how my blog flourishes.

Well that is my first post completed, hopefully my next post is little more content heavy hehe.....
